AIX UNIX ADMINISTRATOR / ENGINEER - LONDON - 3 MONTHS+ - �300-�500/DAY

A leading UK brand name are seeking a AIX Unix administrator / engineer to be responsible for the maintenance and development of the companies AIX, Linux and z/Linux operating systems as well as the System p hardware. The role includes support of both the infrastructure and the applications that reside on this infrastructure and involve work on Unix and Linux.

The Role:

- The role entails the administration of the UNIX operating systems. This includes installation, upgrade and fixing of the operation systems.
- The main function of this role will be to provide day to day hitperson support for the different Partnership's application areas. This will involve answering phone calls and responding to incidents raised by mail or in house incident logging system.
- The role is also expected to support the System p hardware infrastructure as required.
- The role may involve advising different application teams on UNIX administration and scripting tasks whilst preserving the current standards.
- Assist with project delivery by building virtual LPARs and providing operational support, for example adding/removing resource, configuring access, creating users, and carrying out file system extensions.
- Carrying out AIX/Linux technology level updates and upgrades

Skills required:

- AIX Unix 5 to 7
- IBM Power 5-7 servers
- SLES Linux v10 and 11
- Shell Scripting
- General System Administration
- NIM
- Power VM Virtual I/O server

Location is central London; there is a high likelihood of extension and a full detailed job description is available on application.
